Folklore & Timelines

Here you can find stories passed by word of mouth from generation to generation, as well as a timeline to see the history of all of Oridenia.

Creation of Oridenia

In the beginning...

Etheerahl, the grand being, ruled over a realm of stars, known as the creator, the house of death, and the enforcer of balance. They created many guardians, each with their own world to shape and care for.

The guardian of Oridenia, Ordinius, created three guardians to bring meaning to his world - Zayferiahn, the guardian of the seas; Arkatuah, the guardian of the land; and Leifah, the guardian of the sky. Zayferiahn created creatures of fin and scale and tangled plants, Arkatuah created creatures and plants of great variety, and Leifah created creatures of wing and feather.

Each of the guardians, Zayferiahn, Arkatuah, and Leifah, had created their own distinct realms and were proud of their individual creations. They were independent and wanted to maintain the integrity of their own domains, not wishing for any other guardians to interfere or impose on their own creations. They saw their own realms as unique and sacred, with their own balance and ecosystems that they wanted to preserve. So when conflicts arose between the guardians, they were resolved through negotiations, ensuring that each realm remained separate and that the balance between the realms was maintained.

As time passed, the realms became increasingly dependent on one another. Arkatuah's creatures and plants needed water and sun, while Zayferiahn's realm required sun, nutrients, and food to sustain its creatures. Leifah's creatures found use in all of the realms. Initially, the guardians were outraged at the trespassing and killing of each other's creatures, yet Arkatuah allowed Leifah's birds to reside in her realm, which brought her great joy. This enthusiasm quickly spread to the other guardians, and they became more willing to share their resources.

Tale of Treasure & Misfortune

There was a cursed treasure trove said to bring misfortune to all who seek it high in a mountain guarded by a bear. Despite warnings from the locals, a young explorer named Vorikai was determined to find it. He travelled for many days and nights before reaching it.

The treasure trove was filled with all the things you could ever want, if you thought it, it was there. But as soon as he touched the treasure, a curse descended upon him. Everywhere he went, he brought destruction and misery. Many fell ill, crops withered away, and dens were destroyed.

Desperate to break the curse, Vorikai returned to to the mountain and returned all that he had taken. Begging the bear who overlooked the trove for forgiveness, he had been greedy and stolen from the trove.

The bear forgave him, and told him they would only lift the curse if Vorikai promised to never steal again. Vorikai made his promise with a desperate shaky voice, and so it was done. Vorikai was welcomed back to the tribe he was once driven from out of fear.

Tale of  a Monster & a Hero

In a small clearing surrounded by dense forests, there lived a monster that emerged from a nearby lake every full moon. The monster was known as the Lake Demon and was feared by everyone in the area. The Lake Demon was described as a giant creature with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth, eyes that glowed like red hot coals, and a body that was covered in slimy scales.

Every month, when the full moon appeared in the sky, the residents would flee and hide praying for their safety. The Lake Demon would roam the forest, devouring any living thing in its path. Nothing was safe from its insatiable appetite.

One night, Elijah, a young toko'rin buck decided he had enough of living in fear. He gathered his courage and set out to face the Lake Demon.

With only a carved spear as his weapon, Elijah reached the lake, finding the monster waiting for him, its red eyes blazing with fury. Elijah stood his ground, holding the spear in his mouth, claws raking the muddy ground below. The Lake Demon let our a roar that echoed across the forest and lunged at Elijah.

As the battle drew out the monster grew tired, allowing Elijah a chance to plunge his spear into the monster's heart. The Lake Demon let out a final roar before collapsing into the lake, never to be seen again. Elijah returned to his home, a hero. Everyone hailed him as the one who had defeated the Lake Demon. From that day on, the clearing was never bothered by the monster again, and the full moon was no longer feared.

However, some say the Lake Demon still wanders to this day, regaining his strength to use the forests' creatures as food once again. But when, no one knew.
